Alex YimAlex Yim, Registered Acupuncturist (RAc.) and Feng Shui Master

Trained in China, Hong Kong & Canada, Alex practices several acupuncture techniques, including Tui Na (Chinese deep Acupoint massage), laser acupuncture (for people who don’t like needles) and different Acupoint Injection Therapies to stimulate and promote body healing.

Alex is trained and qualified to do prolotherapy. Prolotherapy is also known as nonsurgical ligament reconstruction, and is a treatment for chronic pain.

Prolotherapy is helpful for what conditions?

The treatment is useful for many different types of musculoskeletal pain, including arthritis, back pain, neck pain, fibromyalgia, sports injuries, unresolved whiplash injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic tendonitis, partially torn tendons, ligaments and cartilage, degenerated or herniated discs, TMJ and sciatica.

What is prolotherapy?

First, it is important to understand what the word prolotherapy itself means. "Prolo" is short for proliferation, because the treatment causes the proliferation (growth, formation) of new ligament tissue in areas where it has become weak.

Ligaments are the structural "rubber bands" that hold bones to bones in joints. Ligaments can become weak or injured and may not heal back to their original strength or endurance. This is largely because the blood supply to ligaments is limited, and therefore healing is slow and not always complete. To further complicate this, ligaments also have many nerve endings and therefore the person will feel pain at the areas where the ligaments are damaged or loose.

Tendons are the name given to tissue which connects muscles to bones, and in the same manner tendons may also become injured, and cause pain.

Prolotherapy uses a dextrose (sugar water) solution, which is injected into the ligament or tendon where it attaches to the bone. This causes a localized inflammation in these weak areas which then increases the blood supply and flow of nutrients and stimulates the tissue to repair itself.

In addition, Alex is qualified to do the health weight loss program, Lipo Dissolve Therapy, which can help the body to break down fat cells with natural soy substances and treatment to remove scars, stretch marks and deep wrinkles. Alex is a member of SAIT (Society for Acupoint Injection Therapy).

Mary Ferreira RMTMary Ferreira, Registered Massage Therapist

Mary takes a holistic approach to registered massage therapy, taking in to account all aspects of a person’s wellbeing or lack thereof. With understanding, empathy, compassion and mindfulness, each treatment is centered on the unique needs of each client.

Mary feels strongly about empowering individuals to take charge of their health and wellness goals through self-care education. Every treatment ends with an individualized home self-care plan that
consists of exercises, stretches, postural re-education, hydrotherapy and/or small changes that can be made throughout daily life to reach those wellness goals.

Mary has several years of practice with Structural Integration Myofascial Release Technique- a slow, gentle and often deep technique that uses sustained pressure in to connective tissue restrictions to reduce or eliminate pain and increase mobility of the tissue.

Lynn MackayLynn Mackay, Homeopath (RCSHom, BSc, SCCD, DCH)

What Can Homeopathy Do For Your Health?

HOMEOPATHY WORKS

Homeopathy is a holistic, complementary medicine system that treats you as the unique individual that you are. Homeopathic Remedies can support healing in acute (temporary) states such as viral infections, physical injuries and trauma, pregnancy, labour, and common childhood complaints and diseases. Deep seated, chronic conditions, as well as side effects from medical treatments, also respond well to accurately prescribed homeopathic remedies. as does stress, burnout, arthritis, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, insomnia, fatigue, PMS, infertility, menopause and more...

LYNN AND HOMEOPATHY

As a Homeopath I love to see how a well-applied homeopathic remedy restores physical health while also naturally encouraging inner growth, development and awareness on multiple levels of an individual’s life. Additionally, my extensive counseling experience has allowed me to develop a wide range of skills that enhance my homeopathic practice for the benefit of those who come to see me. Witnessing the simple, effective, and often wondrous impact of homeopathic treatment is always an inspiration to me.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I COME IN TO SEE LYNN?

Your first homeopathic session is at least 2 hours long. I want to know your health history and what is unique to your symptoms. After that I do some research and decide which remedy to give you. Subsequent appointments may be 1 to 4 weeks apart depending on your needs. All follow up appointments are 1 hour long and all remedies you receive are included with the session fees. Generally, the longer you have been ill, the longer it takes to fully recover. Each person's healing path is unique and individual however.

TESTIMONIALS

"I was treated by Lynn while I was studying for my postgraduate degree. i was suffering from low levels of anxiety and depression, intestinal disturbances, painful PMS, joint pains and hay fever.  Over the time that I worked with Lynn, all of those symptoms disappeared. Lynn is a caring, intelligent, and very skilled Homeopath."  Jennifer, age 34, Naturopath

"I came in because of weight gain, migraines, a heavy period and becoming forgetful, peri-menopauseal symptoms. Homeopathy has got my body into a balanced and more peaceful place and allowed me to be in control, not the symptoms."  Cindy, age 49, teacher and mother of two children.

"I came about having anxiety attack. My moods changed a lot. I was lonely, sad, irritated and worried. I always woke up exhausted, sluggish and generally blaagh.  Now I feel more calm and peaceful, more of a bright feeling, mellow and content. I have more balanced thoughts and am not worrying. I sleep well and have more energy and less tension. I'm more motivated and it's easier to go out and talk with people."  Female, age 16, Student
